Despite the fact that I'm a fashion lover, I prefer a small, multi-functional wardrobe to a vast closet full of clothes. When working with clients, I often get similar requests--women want pieces they can wear to work and on the weekend. I call these "double-duty" pieces. Some may even say "Double Duty" style is my specialty.
We're all busy--whether we work from home, have two jobs, have kids, don't have kids, married or single--we all need to dress differently for the many roles we fill throughout the week.
With "Double-Duty" Styling, you should be able to do more with less, save money, save time, and always have something to wear. I've styled some looks below so you can have a clear idea about "Double Duty Style".
From Playground to PTA
In the look on the left, we have a super casual outfit that's great for running around at a playground. The same striped tee and jeans are dressed up in the second look by adding a cardigan, some gold jewelry, and elegant flats. It's still casual, but a dressier version of casual that's more appropriate for something like a PTA Meeting. This stripe tee could also be paired with a blazer and trousers for an appropriate office outfit.
From Home Office to Coffee Meeting
On the left, we have another very casual ensemble for working at home. Yes, even if you are working at home, you should "get dressed". We all need to make the mental switch from "relaxing" to "working" even if our commute is only from the couch to the desk. We've paired a relaxed sweater with grey jeans, comfortable stylish sneakers, and a nice watch. We easily switch up the same look for a coffee meeting by adding accessories like a colorful scarf, gold jewelry and a fun sandal.
From Errands to Lunch Date
Again on the left, we see a more casual look with a denim dress. Paired with sandals, a tote and a watch this is great for shopping or running errands. On the right, we dress it up with more gold jewelry, heeled sandals and a colorful scarf making it a flirty look for a lunch date. Depending on your dress code, you could also add a blazer and heels with this dress and wear it to the office.
