Once considered an old-fashioned relic, pantsuits are making a loud and proud comeback. As a lifelong blazer addict, I couldn't be more thrilled. A pantsuit is much more versatile than we might initially think. To avoid looking like you've raided your grandmother's closet, go for pantsuits with sleek lines in bold colors. Here are five ways to stylishly adopt one of this year's hottest trends.
1. Pair with a Silk Cami and Sleek Heels
A well-fitted pantsuit can be surprisingly sexy. After all, women in pants have been a symbol of rebellion, adventure, and liberation throughout history. For a head-turning, evening look, wear your pantsuit with a silk cami and a layered necklace. Finish the look with a sleek pair of sandals. Oh, and for the bold--feel free to skip the cami.
2. Go Casual with Jeans and a Tee
On the other end of the style spectrum, you can pair the blazer from your pantsuit with your casual pieces. Top off a basic tee and jeans with a bold blazer for a sophisticated, cool girl look. Round out the casual-cool vibe with a pair of chic sneakers.
3. Wear colorful pants with your black tops.
Are you guilty of owning too much black clothing? Black is not as versatile as we've been taught. In fact, if you have a plethora of black pants or skirts, when do you wear your black tops? Never, because they don't go with anything else. This is where a colorful pair of suiting pants will save the day. Red? Pink? Green? Pick a a color. Any of those will work with your forgotten black tops.
4. Keep it prim and proper with a button-down and polished flats.
A well-know part of Ellen DeGeneres' signature style, this polished yet relaxed look is coveted by those with a bit of wit and whimsy in their approach to style. It is appropriate for both work and play.
5. Make it Monochromatic.
Lean all the way into the pantsuit trend by dressing in a monochromatic manner. As a bonus, this style gives the optical illusion of height. Extra credit if you finish off the looks with tone-on-tone shoes and bags.
